About

I recently completed my PhD in Sociology at Columbia University, and will be at the University of California-Berkeley as a postdoctoral researcher starting September 2026

I work on questions around migration, race, ethnicity, diaspora, and emotion. I am particularly interested in how migration processes and immigrant identity intersect with projected futures and imagined pasts, and in the role of emotions in producing identities.

I received my PhD in Sociology from Columbia University, an M.Phil in Sociology and Demography from Oxford University in 2016, and a B.A. in Social Research and Public Policy from NYU Abu Dhabi in 2014.

Prior to this, I was Director of Research at INCITE, where I managed REALM, a multi-center research program on labor migration to the GCC.
